Yastika Bhatia Career: Domestic

Yastika Bhatia started playing professional domestic cricket in the year 2013. Yastika was selected in the Baroda team in 2016 for the West zone U-19 squad. In 2016, Yastika also scored her maiden one-day century against Maharashtra (131 runs) and 60 runs against Mumbai too.

Yastika Bhatia played in the India-A women’s team against Bangladesh. Yastika was also selected in the India-A women’s team against Australia starting from December 12, 2019.

Yastika was selected as the captain of the West Zone Women’s Cricket Team for the Inter-Zone 50 over and 3 – Day Competitions. She scored a century in a T20 match against Manipur in the national U-23 Women’s tournament.

Yastika Bhatia was selected by Mumbai Indians to play in the Women’s Premiere League in 2023 for an auction price of Rs 1.5 Crores. She made her WPL debut on March 4, 2023 against Gujarat Giants.

She made her Twenty 20 International Debut on October 7, 2021 for India against Australia at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast in Australia. She played the women’s practice game for India against Australia in Brisbane on September 18, 2021.

Yastika Bhatia was selected in India’s team for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in January 2022 against New Zealand. She was also selected a part of India’s cricket team in July 2022 for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

Yastika Bhatia started playing cricket at the age of 8 when her father put her in the cricket academy at their school along with her sister.

She got good support from her parents and decided to follow her passion for cricket. Their resident society was also very helpful and supported her. During a lockdown, they even helped them set up a makeshift batting net where Yastika played with Tennis balls.

Yastika played in the Baroda U-19 team along with her sister, but her sister later decided to pursue the medical line further. She soon got selected in the U-19 National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru headed by the former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid.

Yastika Bhatia attended the Delhi Public School in Vadodara and graduated from Amity University online in BA course. Yastika Bhatia is currently studying Sports Management from the Institute of Sports Science and Technology. Yastika was a bright student who opted science for her 12th standard and secured 88.9% in the finals.

Yastika Bhatia suffered a trauma in March 2020 where the members of the Baroda senior women’s team including her were sexually harassed by their head coach Atul Bedade who was later suspended by the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA). Traumatized by this, Yastika went into depression and missed two state matches for her Baroda team.

Yastika Bhatia’s family consists of her father Harish Bhatia, her mother Garima Bhatia and her elder sister Josita Bhatia. Her family has always been supporting her passion for cricket.

Yastika’s sister started as a cricketer with her in the U-19 women’s cricket but later chose medical line as her profession. She helped a great deal in Yastika’s studies and curing her depressed stage.
