Mayank Yadav’s impressive debut for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2024 took everyone by surprise as he showed his raw pace and talent on the big stage.

Yadav is a right-arm pacer and made an immediate impact by bowling the fastest delivery of the season, reaching a great speed of 155.8 kph. His express pace troubled the Punjab Kings batsmen, and Mayank managed to pick up three crucial wickets in his debut match, finishing with figures of 3 for 27 in his four-over spell.
In the 11th over of the match, Mayank bowled the fastest delivery of the season to Shikhar Dhawan, reflecting his ability to generate serious pace. Mayank followed it up with a short ball to Jonny Bairstow, who mistimed his shot and was caught near the boundary line by Marcus Stoinis.
Yadav then dismissed Prabhsimran Singh with another short ball, inducing a top-edge to Naveen-ul-Haq at mid-on. Mayank completed his impressive spell by removing Jitesh Sharma with yet another short delivery.
At the post-match press conference, Mayank revealed that he used to look up to South African legend Dale Steyn. Incidentally, Steyn was one of the many former cricketers to heap praise on the young gun following his IPL debut.
Mayank represents Delhi in the domestic circuit and was spotted by former India player Vijay Dahiya during a Vijay Hazare Trophy game.

Mayank Yadav’s journey to the IPL has been a gradual one. After being signed by LSG in the IPL 2022 auction at his base price of Rs 20 lakh, Mayank had to wait patiently for his opportunity. Unfortunately, Mayank missed the entire 2023 season due to injury.
But, he made his presence felt in domestic cricket, particularly in the Deodhar Trophy, where he was one of the standout performers, ending as the joint second-highest wicket-taker.
