Mayank Agarwal hospitalized in ICU:

Mayank Agarwal, captain of the Karnataka team, was taken to a private hospital in Agartala after experiencing stomach pain and a burning sensation in his throat and mouth. The situation arose after Mayank consumed liquid from a bottle, thinking it to be drinking water, while onboard an IndiGo flight. Agarwal was traveling from Agartala to Surat via New Delhi for Karnataka’s Ranji Trophy fixture against Railways.

The incident led to Mayank being deboarded and taken to the hospital after a bout of vomiting. The rest of the Karnataka squad continued their journey. ILS Hospitals, where Mayank is admitted, confirmed that he is “clinically stable” and undergoing clinical observation. Mayank is experiencing oral irritation and lip swelling and will be observed for 24 hours.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association is coordinating with Tripura Cricket Association officials and the attending doctors. A written complaint has been sent to the Tripura police, who are investigating the incident. Mayank Agarwal will undergo tests, and a decision will be made regarding his return to Bengaluru for further examination.

IndiGo, in a statement, acknowledged the medical emergency, mentioning that the flight IndiGo flight 6E 5177 had to come back to Agartala. Agarwal who has scored two hundreds and a half-century in the ongoing season,is a crucial player for Karnataka, currently positioned second in Group C. The vice-captain, Nikin Jose, is expected to take over the captaincy in Agarwal’s absence.
