Devdutt Padikkal was born on 7 July 2000 in Edappal, Kerala. Devdutt was born to Ambili Padikkal and Babu Kunnath.

Padikkal’s domestic career started with Karnataka in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy. Devdutt’s talent caught the eye of IPL franchises, ensuring his selection by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction. Devdutt made history in his debut IPL season by being the first player to score 3 fifties in his first 4 matches.
