Mustafizur Rahman has been playing cricket since he was a young child, and initially, scouts from Satkhira united to set him on the path of winning the under-17 for the Bangladesh squad. Eventually, his pace bowling skills were developed at Dhaka pace bowling camps.
On one occasion, his undeniable score-making skill became instantly recognizable; very soon he was playing with the Under-19 team for the Bangladesh squad. He played for the country’s U-19 cricket team in 2014 during the U-19 world bash and came out in sixth place with 9 wickets.
That same season, he became a part of the Khulna team, gradually establishing himself as a constant player of the squad in the run-up to the next year. He lived up to expectations finishing the season with 26 wickets at an average of 19.08.
At first sight, Mustafizur played a one-off T20I match with Pakistan and ended in the conclusion of a win of two wickets including the names of Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Hafeez. Soon he began to play ODI and performed exceptionally. Finally, in July 2015, he was selected in the Test side to face South Africa. He too had four wickets on his first game and earned the ‘Man of the match award’ on both Tests and One Day International debuts hence becoming the first player to win it.
