Suryakumar Yadav groin surgery:
India’s top T20 batter, Suryakumar Yadav, successfully underwent a groin surgery in Munich, Germany, on January 17. Reports indicate that the surgery was for a sports hernia, a condition that coincidentally led to a similar operation for cricketer KL Rahul in Germany in 2022. Suryakumar, accompanied by his wife Devisha, had been in Germany for the surgery.
The 33-year-old Suryakumar had been sidelined since suffering a left ankle injury during the third T20I against South Africa in Johannesburg last month, shortly after scoring a century off 56 balls. After the injury, he was seen using a moonboot, signaling the severity of the issue.
There are also reports suggesting that Suryakumar underwent surgery on the injured ankle. Additionally, he underwent rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru before traveling to Germany for the groin operation.
After the successful surgery, Suryakumar expressed gratitude for the concerns and well-wishes, assuring fans that he would be back on the field soon.
The timeline for Suryakumar’s return remains uncertain, and it is unclear if he will be fit in time for the beginning of IPL 2024, tentatively scheduled to commence from the third week of March. Suryakumar Yadav has been a key player for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, contributing significantly to their five-time championship victories.
Suryakumar Yadav recovery is eagerly awaited, especially with the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled to take place from June 1 to 29 in the USA and the West Indies. Suryakumar’s presence will be important for the Indian team as they prepare for the prestigious tournament.
