Tristan Stubbs Career:
Tristan Stubbs is a South African Wicket-keeper-batter who is a part of the South Africa National Cricket Team Proteas.
First Class Career: Tristan Stubbs made his first-class debut on January 16, 2020 playing for Eastern Province against the South West domestic team in the 2019-2020 CSA 3-day Provincial Cup. Additionally, he has played 8 First Class cricket so far in which he has scored 465 runs with two centuries and another half-century.
List A Career: Tristan Stubbs made his List A cricket debut on February 16, 2020 playing for Eastern Province against the KZN-Inland team in the 2019-2020 CSA 1-day Provincial Challenge. Additionally, he has played 11 List A cricket matches so far and has scored 275 runs with the help of a half-century.
Domestic Career: Tristan Stubbs made his debut in domestic T20 cricket on February 21, 2021 while playing with the Warrior’s domestic team in the 2020-2021 CSA T20 Challenge.
Tristan Stubbs was also selected by the Jaffna Kings for the third edition of the Lanka Premier League in July 2022.
IPL Career: Tristan Stubbs was initially selected in the Indian Premier League as a replacement player for Tymal Mills in the year 2022, and was included in the Mumbai Indians (IPL) team in May 2022 bought for Rs 20 Lakhs.
Tristan Stubbs made his IPL debut on May 6, 2023 for Mumbai Indians against Chennai Super Kings. He was again selected by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2023.
In IPL 2024, he was bought by Delhi Capitals for his base price of Rs 50 lakhs in the Indian Premier League Mini auction 2024 in Dubai on December 19, 2023.
Tristan Stubbs International Cricket:
As for his international cricket career, Tristan Stubbs has only got a chance to play ODI & T20 International yet. He made his debut in T20 International cricket on June 9, 2022 for South Africa against India.
Tristan Stubbs was included in South Africa’s One Day squad for their series against West Indies and made his ODI debut in the second ODI of the series on March 18, 2023.
He again played for South Africa in an International Test match against India on January 4, 2024. Tristan Stubbs played his latest Twenty 20 International for South Africa on September 3, 2023 against Australia. He is currently a part of South Africa’s ODI and T20 International Cricket team.
Tristan Stubbs Early Life:
Tristan Stubbs was born in Honeydew. His family later moved from Johannesburg to Knysna, where he received cricket coaching from Robin Abbott at the Knysna Sports School. He went to the Knysna Primary school for his Primary Education.
For his higher education, Stubbs’ parents preferred Oakhill High school which was closer to home. However, he enrolled in Grey High School located in Port Elizabeth. There, he completed his higher education and also became the Grey 1st XI Captain.
Tristan Stubbs was diagnosed with Sever’s disease when he was young. The disease causes swelling and irritation of the growth plate in the heel. His father Chris Stubbs also suffered the same disease and underwent surgery when he was in Grade XI.
But, doctors stated that Tristan’s condition would be cured without surgery if he stayed away from sports for a while. And so, Tristan did not play any sports for almost a year when he was young.
While Studying at Grey High School, he scored his first 50 for Under-11 for South Western District. Tristan Stubbs was 9 yrs old when he was selected in the U-13 team for the South Western Districts. He played for the Eastern Province U-19 team in 2017 and 2018 as the captain where he led his side to a 22-run victory against Free State. He also won the Best Batsman award at the Under 19 held in 2018 for scoring 288 runs.
Stubbs also played for the Grey’s U-19 hockey team. Later, he was selected to play for South Africa Schools XI and South Africa A team as well. He played for Sunrisers Eastern Cape against Pretoria Capitals in the 2022-2023 SA20. Sunrisers Eastern Cape defeated Pretoria Capital by four wickets and won the inaugural title.

Tristan Stubbs family consists of his mother Mandy Stubbs and father Chris Stubbs who was a former hockey athlete.
